The Anomaly: Part 2 by Varun

Game: The Ultimate Doom

Description: This map was originally made for a project called The Ninth Gate that never saw the light of day. The idea was to create a set of levels inspired by Episode 4 of The Ultimate Doom. But since we never got around to finishing it, we decided to release the finished levels individually. Most of this map was made during 2001-03 using DoomCAD, so the architecture is pretty simple, but detailed. There's a titlepic replacement made by me, and some awesome music by Damian Lee (except the level music which is from Duke Nukem 3D).

Great level, Varun. Man I remember you working on this all the way back from 2002 onwards, good that we finally decided to release our individual maps... This one is very well designed and I love the atmospheric look of the level. Gameplay wise also it's very nice, though I'll stick to playing it at lower skill levels, thank you very much :)

Nice music selections too. The best work of yours, till date.

karthik pretty much said everything. very good atmosphere, great detail too (without it being too much). nothing feels like its there for being there either.

i think this levels stands out much better on its own rather than being part of a group of maps. (though i feel that way for all levels of that project, but maybe its just me).

Doomworld just posted their Annual Cacowards... and this level is on their list of the Ten Best Levels released in 2007!

Way to go, man! Let me be the first to congratulate you on this achievement :)
